CCCM - Penang : Day 2

We arrived at Shaun's place in Permatang Pauh about 5:30pm. It was raining, as usual. Shaun decided to take us out to this quaint place in the middle of nowhere near Bukit Mertajam for dinner. So, we went to Puncak Mutiara Cafe at Kg. Pelet. It took us about 20 minutes to reach there. It was raining quite steadily by now. Instead of a big hall for their eating place, this place had  quaint, little thatched roof wakaf as the eatery. Something like small pondok that could seat 4 - 6 people. For  more people, there were bigger wakaf and there were also air-conditioned wakaf. This place was situated right at the end of Kg. Pelet and next to their kandang kambing. So, the authenticity came from the whiff of the goats' smell when the wind blew past us. :-D  Naturally, in such environment, their speciality was mutton. Yet, they also offered venison and rabbit besides the usual chicken dishes. The menu catered to such a variety of dishes from their famed nasi beriani to western to the usual Siamese dishes. What we ordered was :-
Wah's choice of spring chicken set
Shaun had the beriani special which consisted of mutton, chicken and egg

My choice was the nornal chicken beriani

Kak Haj's choice was roti benggali and sup tulang
The entrance

The quaint thatched roof wakaf which lined the road in the restaurant
The nasi beriani was okay. Service was courteous and orders were reasonably quick. Ambience was nice and conducive. The only complaint was the whiff of the goats smell .... but when the food arrived, everything else was ignored ....  :-)  Thus, with a full stomach, rainy weather ... we prepared to call it a day. Until tomorrow's makan-makan session ....
