My Manchester, UK Trip - 3

After discussion on the best time to go there, we decided on going towards the end of winter and the starting of spring. The weather would start to get warmer. But nobody could forecast the freezing Siberian winds which hit UK and Europe. They called it the "Beast from the East". It had not snowed heavily in Manchester since 2010. So many people were out to play sledging in the snow laden hills. I thought I had avoided the snow but Allah"s grace ... I even got to play sledging in Manchester ... and touched the softness of the snow.

The bare backyard ....
Snow had started to fall ... soft, gentle snowflakes of various shapes and sizes

Snow starting to fill the backyard

All covered in snow

Cold ... so cold that I was hugging a bag to keep warm and fully covered up

Trudging up the slopes - the snow was wet and bogged down my steps
It was fun although the temperature was below 0 C. A one time it was -4C. I never imagined that I would ever touch snow or walk on it or play on it or make snowballs ... Alhamdulillah.

My Manchester, UK Trip - 2

I love going to the grocery stores ... there was a Chinese supermarket that offered everything an Asian would need - even products from Malaysia. Most fresh vegetables were imported from Thailand. A 200g of kangkung cost two pounds. If one ignores the currency symbol before the numbers, then the price will be almost the same. But if one start to convert, then it is mighty expensive.

Very large strawberry - crunchy, sweet and juicy

Look at the price of the coconut ...

I loved this bread - I missed it here

Bramley apples - huge and very sour. Made into apple pies

Durians anyone? Frozen of course.

My Manchester, UK Trip - 1

A supposedly five week stay which was extended unexpectedly to ten weeks due to unforeseen circumstances gave me an experience of a lifetime. I stayed with Ismahan, my hostess, and was immersed into the daily living activities. It was priceless. So, instead of reading such long stories on it, let the photos speak for themselves.

Firstly, the food that was served on British Airways during the long thirteen hour flight from KLIA to Heathrow, London and then onwards to Manchester.

Breakfast on the next day before landing in London
Dinner - the chocolate cake was delicious.
Pretzels instead of peanuts as welcoming drink and snack

Welcoming drink and snack - I love the orange juice
